Every new project consists of many lines of code, new styles, and new graphics. In Travian, this work is accomplished by many different people working together on different parts of the game at the same time. As you can imagine, this is not always trivial and requires a lot of communication. To give you an impression of the developing process of Travian 4, we have created a “code swarm” showing the code changes of the last 6 months by the core dev-team members. In this swarm every change of every file is represented by a dot, which circulates around the programmers name who did the change. The color of the dot represents the code component where the change did happen. As an example the color grey stands for changes outside the game code like writing some unittests or building some tools to automate some processes for generating content or deploying the game. The blue colors means that there were some source code changes and the red color means that there was an update on some layout or graphic files.
In today’s update we want to share with you some conceptual changes on the user interface as well as informing you of the start of a Travian 4 closed BETA server with several Players from all over the world.
In today’s update we want to share with you a new feature of Travian 4: independent Natarian villages.
We are also announcing that the Travian 3.6 feature called “instant recall” or “let troops returning arrive immediately” will be removed in Travian 4. Some of you might have played a server with that feature in Travian 3.6, others might have heard of it. Either way “instant recall” is not part of the Travian 4 concept.
In today’s update we want to share with you the changes that will be made to the report system in Travian 4, including adjustments to the current reports and the introduction of a whole new vicinity report.
We are also announcing that the “Plunder bonus” for the Teuton tribe will be removed in Travian 4. Teuton troops will no longer be able to raid 20% of the opposing player’s cranny whilst attacking.
Today we want to show you the third and last part of our revised buildings.
We also want to announce that players still in “beginners protection” attacking/raiding another player will drop out of beginners protection immediately. This feature was suggested in several forums by our players. If players in beginners protection want to launch an attack/raid against another player, they will get a notice that they will drop out of their protection if sending his attack/raid.
